About Dobermans - 

Dobermans are active, attentive, intelligent, sensitive, and demanding dogs.  They can only be properly enjoyed when made part of your family.  Just like you wouldn't wait until your child steals the neighbors car to teach them right from wrong, puppies need constant training in the early ages. Reinforcing the behaviors that you like and discouraging the behaviors that you dislike.  A little effort in the beginning will give you a valued friend for many years.  Dobermans are good with children and will love and protect them as long as the child is nice to the dog.  Unlike some breeds that allow children to pull at, ride, bite, and abuse them, Dobermans will first try to get away from the child, but if cornered will bite the child.  Parents should always supervise this behavior until the child can be trusted to play nice with the dog.

Owning a Kansa Doberman - 

Owning a Kansa Dobermans requires a commitment for the life of the dog.  We will always accept one of our dogs back for any reason.  They are not sold for resale.  I do not make unenforceable "guarantees" on my dogs.  As a well known veterinarian friend of mine says, "If you want a guarantee, go buy a refrigerator."  However, we do stand behind the dogs we breed, and will replace or work out an agreeable resolution in the rare event that the dog should have a congenital problem.  These are living creatures and there are no absolutes.  Each circumstance is different and must be handled individually.  We feel that purchasing a dog from us is a two way street.

We breed for Quality, not Quantity.  We have traveled to both coasts of the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, South America, and Europe to breed to what we feel are the best sires in the world in an attempt to breed the best Dobermans that can be found, both physically and mentally.  We only breed a litter when we are planning on keeping something for ourselves; normally 1-2 liters a year.  The parents have been health tested for relevant conditions that have a reliable test for long term predictability.  If you are interested in one of our puppies, we will require answers to the following questions to help determine if we have  a puppy that is right for your family.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND.  WE TRAVEL FREQUENTLY ON MY JOB AS WELL AS SHOW DOGS, TRAIN IN SCHUTZHUND, AND JUDGE DOG SHOWS.  IF WE DO NOT GET BACK WITH YOU RIGHT AWAY, DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED.  WE DO VALUE YOUR CONTACT.  IF WE DO NOT CONTACT YOU IN A REASONABLE TIME, PLEASE E-MAIL US AGAIN OR CALL US.  WE DO NOT INTEND TO IGNORE YOU, BUT ARE FREQUENTLY VERY BUSY AND YOUR PERSISTENCE WILL NOT BE ANNOYING AND MAY HELP YOU OBTAIN THAT PERFECT DOG FOR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.

 

NOTE:  We usually do not sell dogs to people that do not have a permanently fenced yard.  We have made rare exceptions, but as a rule we do not.  We also do not ship dogs.  You will either have to travel to Kansas to pick up your puppy of pay us to deliver it.

Important: Please fill out the questionnaire as completely as possible.

  We frequently have waiting lists for our litters.  If you are willing to wait for the right puppy for you,  we will put you on a waiting list.  At a time that we feel that is appropriate we will accept deposits to reserve a puppy for that litter.  The deposit guarantees that we will have a puppy for you from that litter.  We normally do not accept or ask for deposits until the litter is on the ground and we have an idea what might be available.  We also do not refund deposits if you change you mind.

NOTE: WE HAVE HAD COMPUTER CRASHES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND LOST OUR WAITING LIST.  PLEASE WATCH THIS WEBSITE FREQUENTLY AND IF YOU ARE ON OUR WAITING LIST AND YOU NOTICE THAT WE HAVE A LITTER AND WE HAVE NOT CONTACTED YOU, PLEASE LET US KNOW.  WHEN THE COMPUTER DIES, THE LIST USUALLY GOES WITH IT.
